This article started talking about nix-shell (/ nix shell) only, including its title, but then also included nix develop

Devenv was also recently added

Should we split this page for each non-nix-shell tools (in which case we also rename this article "Nix Shell"), or turn this article into a general development environment tooling article (in which case we edit the title to "Development Environment" and also merge Devenv in this present article)? Yes. I feel like that could make it clearer, if one were to search for "nix-shell" or "nix-develop" (also the page title is very long atm and a bit clunky tbh). Also could make it easier to flesh out these splitted articles (stuff like making nix-shells for non-dev etc). Aand longer and more examples for each (as adding that to this article would make it ridiculously long). Gobbe (talk) 10:36, 11 October 2026 (UTC)
